The barred cuckoo-dove (Macropygia unchall) is black-barred on the mantle, breast, coverts, and tail. It inhabits dense subtropical woodlands at altitudes of 800 to 3,000 m (2,600 to 9,800 ft) on montane slopes from the Himalayas to Southeast Asia. The Barred Cuckoo-dove is known for its ability to mimic the calls of other bird species, often fooling even experienced birdwatchers.
