The great crested flycatcher (Myiarchus crinitus), a large flycatcher with fairly long and lean proportions, is named for its bushy crest. All adults are brownish on the upper-parts with yellow underparts; they have a long rusty brown tail. The throat and breast are grey. Indigenous across a wide range in North America, it is the only Eastern flycatcher that nests in cavities, and it has the odd habit of adding pieces of shed snakeskin to its nest.
