The blue-fronted amazon (Amazona aestivate), also called the turquoise-fronted amazon and blue-fronted parrot, is a South American species of amazon parrot and one of the most common amazon parrots kept in captivity as a pet or companion parrot. The overall colour is green with a yellow face, blue feathers around the beak and yellow and red patches on the shoulders. The feet and beak are dark grey. When Amazon parrots were first discovered they were called kriken, which is derived from the French word meaning "screechers".
