Endemic to the Solomon Islands archipelago, the yellow-bibbed lory (Lorius chlorocercus) gets its name from the distinctive, sunny-yellow patch of feathers across its upper breast that closely resembles a human bib. These social parrots typically travel in pairs or small groups of up to 10 individuals in subtropical and tropical moist lowland and montane forests. Like other lories, they have a highly specialized, brush-tipped tongue perfectly adapted for extracting nectar and pollen from flowers. They have a beautiful patch of bright blue feathers tucked neatly under their wings.
