The thick-billed euphonia (Euphonia laniirostris) is a small, colourful finch-like bird with a rather large bill for its size - but is not huge. The male has a bright yellow crown, dark blue-black back, and entirely yellow underparts, while the female is much duller, olive-green above and duller yellow below. It is found in the subtropical or tropical dry forests of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela.
