The migratory grasshopper (Melanoplus sanguinipes - Fabricius) is a serious pest of both crops and grasslands causing more crop damage than any other species of grasshopper in the United States. Other common names include the lesser migratory grasshopper and red-legged grasshopper. It is found in the Caribbean and North America.
