The Javelina (Tayassu tajacu) name derives from the Spanish word for wild boar. Also known as collared peccary, it is a medium-sized animal that look similar to a wild boar and lives in desert washes, saguaro and palo verde forests, oak woodlands, and grasslands with mixed shrubs and cacti.
